version 2.7.140.0

Welcome to eProtocol, an online system designed to facilitate the protocol application and review process for the research community at Meharry Medical College. Only authorized MMC faculty, students and staff with an eProtocol ID (ePID) credentials can log into the system.

Access to eProtocol requires valid CITI research education training.  Make sure your CITI training is up to date. If you have not completed CITI training or need to update your training, please visit the CITI Program website at: www.citiprogram.org

NOTE: All Human subjects and Vertebrate Animal research protocols must be submitted to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) through eProtocol for review and approval BEFORE initiation of the research project.

Any research projects that involves the use of biohazardous materials (biological/infectious agents, human/animal blood, tissues, plant pathogens, cell lines and/or recombinant DNA – rDNA) requires Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) registration/review and completion of CITI’s Biosafety Biosecurity training modules.

Troubleshooting tips for eProtocol users:

  • Please be sure to allow pop-ups from your web browser OR turn off any pop-up blockers before entering the site.

  • DO NOT use the “back or forward” arrows at the top of the web browser tool bar to return to a page in eProtocol.  If the back/forward arrow is used in the web browser tool bar, it will automatically sign the user out and will require the user to log-in again!

  • eProtocol is currently compatible with most commonly used web browsers (e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari). eProtocol users have reported difficulty when using web browser Internet Explorer and therefore is not recommended.

If you have questions or need assistance regarding research that involves vertebrate animals (IACUC) and/or biosafety (IBC), please contact the Regulatory Review Administrator at IACUC@mmc.edu or IBC@mmc.edu

If you have questions or need assistance regarding human related research (IRB), please contact the Human Protections Administrator at IRB@mmc.edu

For further technical/training assistance with eProtocol, please submit a request to the Meharry Concierge Services Help Desk - Mercuryhelp in the Office for Research by email at mercuryhelp@mmc.edu
